Hikuidori Ushūboro Tobigumi manga launches ahead of anime adaptation
On Thursday, it was announced that Hikuidori Ushūboro Tobigumi (Fire-Eating Bird: Ushū Brigade in Worn-Out Clothes), which is an adaptation of Shōgo Imamura 's Hikuidori historical novel manga, will be featured in the combined 21st and 22nd issue of Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine on April 24.
The anime adaptation is slated for winter 2026.
In 2017, Imamura started the Ushūboro Tobigumi series with Hikuidori as its first story. Shodensha has released 12 volumes of this novel and also published a collection of spinoff short stories in 2022. This work was recognized with the sixth Yoshikawa Eiji Bunko Award in 2021.
Imamura authored the Last Samurai Standing novels in 2022. Tatsuzawa began adapting them into manga in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2022. Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga adaptation. Netflix is currently producing it. ( link ) An upcoming television show, called "Last Samurai Standing," is being developed as a live-action adaptation of Imamura's works. It will be released in November.
