Game studios Any, ArtePiazza develop Tensei Game for 2026 release
On Wednesday, it was revealed by a game studio that they are partnering with another game studio, ArtePiazza, to create a new Switch game called Tensei Game (Reincarnation Game). This project will be overseen by Yuji Horii, who has worked on the Dragon Quest RPG series, and Muneyuki Kaneshiro, known for his work on Blue Lock and As the Gods Will. This marks the first time Horii and Kaneshiro have collaborated on a project together.
The studio describes the game as a "friendship ruining sugoroku game" ( sugoroku refers to a genre of traditional Japanese dice-based board game with roll-and-move mechanics, similar to snakes and ladders). The game is set in a world named Rinnekai (Reincarnation World), a dark fantasy world which is filled with characters that will allow players to ruin friendships.
Players in the game can hinder one another, potentially resulting in their pieces being destroyed and being "reborn" multiple times. This process accumulates "karma," which can be utilized to hinder others even more and betray them.
The developer is looking to develop the property into anime, merchandise, and TikTok content.
Ayaka Sato serves as the game director while Koyakky is credited as project director. Shintarō Majima is responsible for character design.
In August 2018, the Blue Lock soccer manga was started in Weekly Shōnen Magazine by authors Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura. On March 17th, Kodansha released the 33rd volume of the compiled manga.
In October 2022, the BLUELOCK television anime series began airing in Japan. Crunchyroll streamed the show as it was released, also providing an English dub. Meanwhile, the Kōta Sannomiya spinoff manga of the BLUELOCK series, titled BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi-, debuted in April 2024 in Japan. This manga was later adapted into an anime film that sold over 337,000 tickets and earned more than US$2.99 million in its first three days at the box office. It ranked second in the Japanese box office during its opening weekend. In June 2024, the film was released in North America. Finally, the second season of the BLUELOCK anime series, titled BLUE LOCK vs. U-20 JAPAN, was released in October 2024.
