Fukami plays Shenmei in episode 43 on Friday




On Thursday, it was announced that Rica Fukami will be joining the cast of the anime adaptation of the light novel series "Kusuriya no Hitorigoto" (based on "The Apothecary Diaries" by Natsu Hyūga and Touko Shino) as Shenmei, a character known for her cold demeanor and mysterious aura. She will make her debut in the anime's 43rd episode, which will air on Friday.

The second season's second cours (quarter of a year) premiered on April 4.

The first episode of the new season was broadcasted on Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night block on January 10th. It will continue for two episodes in total. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the second season as well as providing an English dub version for viewers.

In the second season of "Dead Dead Demons' Destruction," Lilas Ikuta performs "Hyakkaryōran," which is her first opening theme song as a solo artist. She is also known as ikura as part of the YOASOBI unit. For the first time in her career, she is singing an opening theme song for a television anime. Meanwhile, Dai Hirai sings "Shiawase no Recipe," which is the first ending theme song for this anime series. Mrs. Green Apple performs "Kusuhiki" as the new opening theme song, while Omoinotake sings "Hitorigoto" as the new ending theme song.

J-Novel Club publishes the novel series digitally, and it describes the story:

In the East is a land ruled by an emperor, whose consorts and serving women live in a sprawling complex known as the hougong, the rear palace. Maomao, an unassuming girl raised in an unassuming town by her apothecary father, never imagined the rear palace would have anything to do with her—until she was kidnapped and sold into service there.

Despite her unassuming appearance, Maomao possesses exceptional intelligence, keen observation skills, and extensive medical knowledge. Her abilities remain hidden until she crosses paths with Jinshi, the palace eunuch, who recognizes her true capabilities and appoints her as a lady-in-waiting to the Emperor's favorite consort. This new position allows her to test the consort's food for poison.

In Japan, the first season of the anime was released in October 2023, consisting of three episodes that were broadcast for two quarters. Crunchyroll made it available for streaming as it was being shown in Japan and also provides an English dub version of it.

The second cours (quarter of a year) of the first season debuted in January 2024.


In Season 1 of "The Ancient Magus' Bride," Norihiro Naganuma served as both director and script supervisor at TOHO animation and OLM. He was assisted by Akinori Fudesaka as director. Yukiko Nakatani was responsible for character design in "Go! Princess Precure" and "Tropical-Rouge! Precure." Shōji Hata was in charge of sound direction for the anime. Satoru Kousaki, Kevin Penkin, and Arisa Okehazama all contributed music to "The Ancient Magus' Bride," "Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-," "Made in Abyss," and "ONIMAI: I'm Now Your Sister!" respectively.

Hyūga began serializing ( link ) the story on the "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" (Let's Become Novelists) website in October 2011. Shufunotomo began publishing the novels in print volume with illustrations by Shino in August 2014. Nekokurage launched ( link ) The English version of the manga adaptation of Square Enix's "Monthly Big Gangan" magazine was released by Square Enix Manga & Books in May 2017. Additionally, the novels are being published by the company in print form.
