On Monday, Leone released the trailer for the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Young & Fine manga by Naoki Yamamoto. The video showcases the theme song "AWAKE" by downt, which is featured in the film.
The movie is included in two sections at two different festivals in South Korea and Taiwan. It will be shown in the Non-Competitive Merry-Go-Round section at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival starting on July 3rd, and in the Transforming Japan section at the Kaohsiung Film Festival starting on October 10th.
Image via Eiga.com On June 27th, Tonari no Uchūjin, which is based on Ryo Hanmura's text short story of the same name, will be released in Japan in multiple locations including the Shinjuku Musashinokan movie theater in Tokyo and other cinemas throughout the country.
In essence, "The Young & Fine" is a manga that follows Katsuhiko Haino, a high school student from a small seaside town, as he navigates his romantic relationship with Reiko Arai. Despite their hesitancy to fully commit, they are dating. New teacher Manabu Izawa arrives at their school and also stays with Haino's family. They quickly become friends, and Izawa devises a plan to bring Haino and Reiko closer together.

Toshiya Kominami is directing Young & Fine. Naoki Yamamoto's Believers manga was previously adapted into a live-action film by Leone, which was directed by Hideo Jōjō. Jōjō is now writing the script for Young & Fine. Yūka Kōri, Yuki Araho, and Taisuke Niihara are starring in the film.
Shōhei Uno, Ōshirō Maeda, Yūka Yoshimura, and Kenta Izuka are starring in the Tonari no Uchūjin film that is being directed by Yūjirō Koseki and written by Shinji Imaoka.
The projects celebrate the 20th anniversary of Leone.
