New Ranma 1/2 Anime Season 2's 1st Trailer Unveils More Cast, Updated Staff, October Debut
Toshihiko Seki reprises Mousse role from 1st anime 32 years later
On Sunday, the official website for the second season of the anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's popular manga series "Ranma 1/2" posted its first trailer. This trailer revealed five additional cast members, changes in staff, and an October premiere date for the upcoming season.
Toshihiko Seki is back in the world of Ranma 1/2 after 32 years to play Mousse once again. Alongside him are some new actors who have joined the cast.
- Kaori Nazuka as Ukyō Kuonji
- Kazuhiko Inoue as Happōsai
- Rin Mizuhara as Cologne
- Akira Ishida as Hikaru Gosunkugi
Many of the employees from the initial season are back in the second season. As one of the main animation directors, Kōsuke Kawamura joined the team. Additionally, Ryūta Hayashi collaborated with Chihiro Ōkawa on directing the art in the new season.
Netflix will be streaming the new season exclusively starting from October on NTV and its associated networks, while it will also have its premiere on these channels at the same time.
In Japan, the anime was released country-wide on October 6th at midnight JST through the NTC network. Following its television airing, it will be exclusively available for streaming on Netflix.
In the upcoming anime, Kōichi Yamadera will return to voice Ryōga Hibiki and Jusenkyo Guide, while Minami Takayama and Kikuko Inoue will reprise their roles from the previous anime as Nabiki Tendō and Kasumi Tendō, respectively. Akio Ōtsuka will take on the role of Sōun Tendō, replacing Ryunosuke Ohbayashi. Chō will portray Genma Saotome in place of Kenichi Ogata, who is also the new anime's narrator, replacing Tadashi Nakamura.
New cast members (not reprising roles from previous anime projects) include:
- Tomokazu Sugita as Tatewaki Kunō
- Ayane Sakura as Kodachi Kunō
- Toshiyuki Morikawa as Tōfū Ono
- Mamoru Miyano as Mikado Sanzenin
- Aoi Yūki as Azusa Shiratori
- Tomokazu Seki as Ichiro
Kōnosuke Uda ( One Piece: Dead End film, DAYS) directed the new series at MAPPA . Kimiko Ueno ( Delicious in Dungeon , Astro Note ) is in charge of series scripts, and Hiromi Taniguchi ( Kurage no Shokudō ) is designing the characters. Ano is performing the anime's opening theme song "Iinazukekkyun." Singer-songwriter Riria. is performing the anime's ending theme song "Anta Nante."
Twelve episodes of the new anime were leaked last August.
