Crunchyroll to stream series worldwide excluding Asia




On Monday, TOHO animation declared that : Vigilantes (Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals) manga will have a second season in 2026. This announcement was made after the final episode of season one was broadcasted. Crunchyroll will stream the series globally except in Asia.

On April 7th, the anime started airing on Tokyo MX and BS NTV in Japan. Crunchyroll is providing global access to the series, except for Asia, and also offers an English dub version.

The anime stars:

- Shūichirō Umeda as Kōichi Haimawari/The Crawler
- Ikumi Hasegawa as Kazuho Haneyama/Pop Step
- Yasuhiro Mamiya as Iwao Oguro/Knuckleduster
- Asami Seto as Makoto Tsukauchi


The returning cast from the original My Hero Academia series are:

- Kenta Miyake as Toshinori Yagi/All Might
- Junichi Suwabe as Shota Aizawa/Eraser Head
- Hiroyuki Yoshino as Hizashi Yamada/Present Mic
- Akeno Watanabe as Nemuri Kayama/Midnight
- Masamichi Kitada as Tensei Iida/Ingenium


Kenichi Suzuki is directing the anime, which is being animated by BONES FILM. Yōsuke Kuroda is returning from My Hero Academia to write and oversee the scripts for this new series. Takahiko Yoshida is designing the characters for this anime, while Yuki Hayashi is returning from the main anime to compose the music alongside Shōgo Yamashiro and Yūki Furuhashi.

Furthermore, Yukihiro Watanabe serves as the art director, while Haruko Nobori handles color design. Yingning Zhang directs photography, Mizuki Sasaki oversees 3DCG, Kiyoshi Hirose manages editing, and Masafumi Mima supervises sound direction.

In the anime, "Kekka Orai" is sung by Kocchi no Kento as its opening theme song. Meanwhile, yutori is a four-member rock band that sings "Speed" as its ending theme song.

: Vigilantes is a prequel to the popular My Hero Academia manga series by Kohei Horikoshi. It tells the story of a group of high school students who become vigilantes in the world of U.A., before the events of the main series begin.

Koichi Haimawari couldn't make the cut to become an official hero, so he uses his modest Quirk to do good deeds in his spare time. Then one day a fateful encounter with some local thugs leads him to team up with two other unlikely heroes. None of them really know what they're doing, but they've got the courage—or foolishness—to try. But they soon discover fighting evil takes more than just being brave…

In August 2016, Furuhashi and Court introduced their manga series in Shueisha's Shonen Jump GIGA magazine. Following this, they relaunched it on Shonen Jump+ in December 2016. Viz Media began publishing the series digitally in English in August 2017, while also releasing it in print. Additionally, Shueisha's MANGA Plus service made the series available digitally in English. The series concluded in May 2022 and had a total of 15 compiled book volumes.
