Sakamichi Onoda is an enthusiastic otaku who wants to join his new schools anime club and make friends. However, the club has been disbanded, so he decides to revive it by finding students willing to join. Despite having little luck, Onoda embarks on a 90-kilometer ride every week since fourth grade on an old city bicycle. During one of these rides, he meets Shunsuke Imaizumi, another first year student who is practicing on the school's steep incline. Surprised by Onodas ability to climb the hill with his specific type of bicycle, Imaizumi challenges him to a race. If Onoda wins, he will be allowed to join the anime club. Thus begins the boys journey into high school bicycle racing!

Episode 1 was previewed at a screening in Tokyo on September 28, 2013. Regular broadcasting began on October 8, 2013.
