Rapper joins Callina Liang, Andrew Koji, Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, Roman Reigns, Orville Peck
On Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Legendary Entertainment is making a live-action film based on Street Fighter, a fighting game by CAPCOM. In this adaptation, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has been cast as Balrog, a disgraced boxer. According to the report, he is preparing to do his own stunts.
Deadline previously reported Callina Liang ( Presence , Bad Genius , Tell Me Everything ) joined the cast as Chun-Li, along with actors Andrew Koji ( Snake Eyes ) as Ryu, Jason Momoa ( Aquaman , Game of Thrones ) as Blanka, Noah Centineo ( Warfare ) as Ken, WWE professional wrestler Roman Reigns as Akuma, and musician Orville Peck ( Cabaret Broadway play) as Vega.
The film was planned to open on March 20, 2026, but Sony removed ( link ) The movie hasn't been released yet, but it was originally scheduled for March 24th. Currently, there is no new opening date available. Kitao Sakurai is directing the filming in Australia starting in August.
In April 2023, CAPCOM sold the movie and TV rights for Street Fighter to Legendary Entertainment. They will collaborate on future projects together.
Initially, it was planned for Danny and Michael Philippou to direct the movie. However, they decided to prioritize working on their Bring Her Back project instead.
In 1994, a movie was made based on the video game series with actors like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming-Na Wen, Damian Chapa, Kylie Minogue, and Wes Studi. Additionally, in 2009, another movie called Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li was released featuring Kristin Kreuk as its main character.
Machinima created two live-action series for Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist and Resurrection. They made the first series available on their YouTube channel in May 2014, which was later licensed by Funimation for North American release. In June 2023, Street Fighter 6 was released on multiple platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam as a fighting game.
