Film cast reprises roles for September 16 series
On Thursday, it was announced on the official website of the My Special One (Kimi ga Tokubetsu) manga that there will be a live-action television series adaptation of the manga. This series will air on MBS and TBS channels starting on September 16th. The cast from the movie will be returning to play their roles in this new series.
The anime will focus on the continuation of Sahoko and Kouta's romance narrative, with some scenes being told from Kouta's point of view. Additionally, it will delve into the complex relationship between Kanato Asuma and Emika Nanase, as well as the larger narrative surrounding the LiKE LEGEND idol group.
Atsuya Asano and Hidemitsu Miyamoto are in charge of directing the series, while Satoko Okazaki is back as scriptwriter, joining Sachi Kirino.
The TV show "TVer" from MBS Dōgaizm and Disney+ Star services will be streaming on these platforms. However, the show's staff have not confirmed if it will be available internationally.
In Japan, the movie premiered on June 20th. It placed sixth in its initial weekend and made approximately US$968,000 from its first three days, which equates to 140,053,280 yen.
In the drama "Kimi no Boku," Mei Hata portrays the character of Sahoko Wakaume, and Kazuya Ōhashi from the idol group Naniwa Danshi assumes the role of Kouta Kirigaya.
The cast members of LiKE LEGEND, an in-story idol group, include:
- Keito Kimura from FANTASTICS as Kanato Asuma
- Jūtarō Yamanaka from M!LK as Haru Kurusu
- Kazuya Ōhashi from Naniwa Danshi as Kouta Kirigaya
- Naru Ōkubo from DXTEEN as Yu Haruna
- NAOYA from MAZZELas Itsuki Naruse
These cast members all come from real-life idol or pop groups.
The film was directed by Ayato Matsuda, who also wrote the script with Satoko Okazaki.
