Wild Adapter began appearing in Tokuma Shoten's bi-monthly Chara magazine in 2000. In 2011, it shifted publishers to Ichijinsha and ran in Ichijinsha's Zero-Sum Ward magazine until May 2015 when the magazine stopped publication. In 2014, a video anime was made based on the Wild Adapter series. In 2015, another OVA was released. Additionally, characters from Wild Adapter are featured in Minekura's manga and its 2002 video anime adaptation of Shiritsu Araiso Koutougakkou Seitokai Shikkoubu (Araiso Private High School Student Council Executive Committee).
In 2006, Tokyopop obtained the rights to distribute Wild Adapter manga in North America. They released six volumes before shutting down their North American publishing division.
In September 2024, after being on hiatus for five years, Minekura restarted her Saiyuki Reload Blast manga series.
