GKIDS screens 2005 film in theaters in September
On Wednesday, GKIDS released the official trailer for the restored 4K version of Linda Linda Linda, directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita in 2005. It will be shown in select cinemas in September.
To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the organization showcased a revamped version of the movie at the Tribeca Film Festival, which took place from June 4th to June 15th in New York City. Additionally, it was announced that the film would be made available for home viewing in 2025.
In 2005, the movie first came out in Japan. Then, in 2007, Viz Pictures put out a DVD version of it. This movie tells the story of an all-female high school rock band that needs to find a new lead singer for their upcoming high school festival, which is happening in just three days.
The movie features actors such as Bae Doona from The Host and Broker, Aki Maeda from Battle Royale, Yu Kashii from
Death Note, and Shiori Sekine from Base Ball Bear band member.
The album contains unique songs written by James Iha from The Smashing Pumpkins, covers from THE BLUE HEARTS, and tunes from Base Ball Bear.
