Pilot anime based on Osamu Tezuka's Unico manga preceded theatrical anime films
On Saturday, Tezuka Productions launched their YouTube channel by broadcasting the first anime adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's "Black Rain and White Feathers" manga chapter.
The pilot anime was not released in theaters, while two theatrical anime films featuring Unico were released after it by Tezuka Productions. They describe the pilot anime as follows.
In a polluted town devoid of blue sky, Unico takes action to help a sick girl named Chico! This rare pilot film is now available for a limited period to commemorate the publication of " UNICO : Hunted," the second volume of the newly adapted Unico manga series.
The manga "Unico" by Osamu Tezuka focuses on a unicorn with the ability to aid those who love him. It follows the character as he journeys through time and different countries to make new friends. The series began in Sanrio 's Ririka in November 1976 before moving to Shogakukan 's learning in April 1980.
In August 2024, Scholastic's Graphix imprint published a new manga called "Unico : Mezame no Ohanashi" based on the popular character "Unico". This manga was created by the Gurihiru illustrator duo and Samuel Sattin, who launched their Kickstarter campaign for it in May 2022. Their campaign was successful in raising US$179,794 in total, surpassing their US$50,000 goal within 24 hours.
