WEBTOON Launches Novelization Line with Cursed Princess Club, The Kiss Bet
1st works in new line launch in November, February
WEBTOON is launching a new publishing project in partnership with Wattpad called the WEBTOON Book Group. This initiative involves adapting popular WEBTOON series into print novels.
The new series will feature two adaptations of popular webcomics and novels. Michelle Knudsen, a New York Times bestselling author, is adapting LambCat's Cursed Princess Club: A Most Unusual Princess webtoon into an animated series. Meanwhile, Farrah Penn, another young adult author, is adapting Ingrid Ochoa's romantic comedy novel, The Kiss Bet, into a series.
Knudsen expressed her excitement about reimagining LambCat's story for prose readers:
“LambCat's Cursed Princess Club is a pure delight. I'm so excited to introduce Gwen, Frederick, and all the other great characters to a whole new audience!”
Penn shared a similar sentiment about working on The Kiss Bet :
“Ingrid has created a delightful world filled with relatable, entertaining, and inspiring characters that feel like friends, so it was exciting to write one of the first books.”
The aim is to broaden the scope of Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group beyond graphic novels and webcomics by introducing popular series in different formats for both existing and new readers.
