Image via Amazon On Monday, through its X (formerly Twitter ) account, Kodama Tales Inc., a subsidiary of Kyodo Printing Co., Ltd., announced that it will release Hiroki Miyashita 's Me and the Alien MuMu ( Uchūjin MūMū ) manga in English on February 1, 2026. Pre-orders for the first volume are currently available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
The publisher describes its story:
An alien named Mumu is a survivor of a civil war that saw the destruction of his planet's scientists, leaving only its fools alive. In an attempt to understand the advanced technology his people left behind, he's infiltrated earth, a planet with a lower level of civilization, to study their so-called "home appliances," which contain facets of all technological knowledge. So begins the adventures of Sakurako, a university freshman and Mumu's new and unexpected accomplice, as she navigates a wild and exciting campus life.
In April 2019, Miyashita started off with a one-shot manga series in Young King Ours magazine from Shonen Gahosha. Following that, they continued with the series. ( link ) Two months from now, the manga will be serialized. On April 30th, Shonengahosha released the eighth volume of the compiled books.
The name of the manga and alien character in question appears to be a tribute to Mū, a magazine that focuses on paranormal themes and has been mentioned in various anime, manga, games, and films such as Weathering With You, Occultic;Nine, and others.
The TV show "Alien MuMu" based on the manga began airing on April 9th. Its second season started on July 2nd.
In July 2019, Miyashita and author Takeshi Natsuhara introduced the manga series "Yakuza Reincarnation" (Ninkyō Tensei: Isekai no Yakuza Hime) in Shogakukan's Sunday GX magazine. Shogakukan published its 18th volume on August 19th. Seven Seas Entertainment is currently releasing this manga in English. They released its 13th volume in July and will publish its 14th volume on November 11th and its 15th volume on April 28th, 2026.
In January 2026, Kodama Tales is set to release Mitei Hattori's "Smiley" manga in English. Meanwhile, Baki The Grappler manga by Keisuke Itagaki is set for worldwide release in English in 24 volumes starting in October. Prior to these releases, Kodama Tales had previously hinted at future titles from Asahi Shimbun Publications, Coamix, Daiwa Shobo, Hero's Inc., Nihonbungeisha, Shodensha, and Shonengahosha.
