Tokyo is currently experiencing heavy rainfall, which has disrupted the daily routine of its residents. Amidst this persistent precipitation arrives Hodaka Morishima, a high school student who struggles financially and ends up working for a small publishing company. Meanwhile, Hina Amano, an orphan with her younger brother, also searches for employment to support themselves. Their paths cross when Hodaka tries to save Hina from some shady individuals. As a result, they decide to run away together. Later on, Hodaka discovers that Hina possesses an extraordinary ability: the power to summon the sun whenever she prays for it. Given Tokyo's unusual weather conditions, Hodaka sees the potential of this talent and suggests that Hina become known as a "sunshine girl" - someone who can clear the sky when needed most. Initially, things seem promising. However, it is widely understood that with great power comes significant responsibility.
