Short anime to run on TRAIN TV for 26 episodes until April 5 next year
On Wednesday, Fanworks released a promotional video for its upcoming Uso Tantei Tomanto (Lie Detective Tomanto) anime series with San-X on TRAIN TV. This short anime series will consist of 26 episodes that will air on TRAIN TV from October 6 until April 5, 2026 on Japan Railways trains' in-car displays.

The "authentic mystery" story follows Tomanto and friends as they solve mysteries using vegetable and fruit trivia. (Tomanto's name is an apparent wordplay on the words "tomato" and "mantle" or manto , for the Inverness cape popularly associated with the Sherlock Holmes character.)
Yōkai Watch is being overseen by Yoichi Kato in terms of scriptwriting, while Yoko Usami is in charge of directing the series at Fanworks. Meanwhile, Michihiko Suwa is handling production planning for the show, similar to his previous work on Case Closed and Inuyasha.
Both firms are working together on the fourth installment of the Sumikko Gurashi anime series called Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Sora no Ōkoku to Futari no Ko (The Sky Kingdom and the Two Children), which will be released in Japan on October 31st. Yoshihiko Inohara and Manami Honjō will once again provide narration for this movie at Fanworks. Asmik Ace, Inc. is responsible for distributing this film in Japan.
On April 4th, NTV introduced a fresh animated series called "Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukun Desu" as part of their morning variety program "ZIP!". Each episode of this show will be available for streaming on TVer and YouTube for one week after it airs on TV. Gaku Kinoshita directed both the overall production and technical aspects of these animated shorts at Fanworks.
