Yo-Kai Watch, 요괴워치, 妖怪ウォッチ, Yokai Watch

A young boy named keita was a typical primary school student with innocent curiosity like any other child of his age. however, one day while exploring deeper into the forest, he stumbled upon a mysterious capsule from which emerged whisper, a ghost-like creature who had been imprisoned for 190 years. grateful for being freed, whisper decided to reward keita by becoming his guardian against supernatural forces. as it turns out, whisper is one of many youkai that exist in the world, and he gave keita a special youkai watch that allowed him to see and interact with all other youkai. together with whisper and jibanyan, a cat spirit, they embarked on numerous adventures where they befriended various youkai, fixed their troubles, and used the powers of previously encountered youkai to aid them. through these experiences, keita learned valuable life lessons that helped him grow as an individual.

Youkai Watch was awarded the Best Film Award for a TV Series at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival in 2015. It also won the grand prize for Digital Content of the Year in 2014 at Japan’s 20th annual Association of Media in Digital Awards.
