In 1999, Nostradamus's prediction about the end of the world was proven incorrect. However, unbeknownst to the public, an unusual occurrence began to emerge. This phenomenon, known as a "Disease," disrupted the normal cell division process in young girls, causing their bodies to rot alive and ultimately leading to their deaths. Additionally, from this disease, a grotesque yet beautiful being was born, guided by fate, walking on the edge between good will and ill will, with an alluring scent of death that lingered in the air.
Biscuit Frankenstein was published for the first time in May 2009 under the light novel label "Megami Bunko", and then republished under the label "Kodansha Box" on September 2, 2013. The Kodansha Box version is the "full version" (完全版) of the story, adding a whole new chapter called "Potato Chips: Tsumeato Shinkeishitsu" (potato chips:つめあと神経質) in the middle of the story. That chapter was initially cut out in the first edition to avoid making the book too big, and makes for about 15% of the total pages by itself. The novel won the 9th Sense of Gender Awards Grand Prize in 2009.
