Once upon a time, there was a vampire named Vanitas who was hated by his own people because he was born under a blue full moon instead of the usual red one. Fearful and isolated, he created a cursed book called "The Book of Vanitas" which he used to take revenge on all vampires. The story goes that this is how it happened.
In the novel "Vanitas no Carte," we follow Noé, a young man traveling aboard an airship in 19th century Paris. His goal was to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden attack by vampires led him to meet Vanitas, a doctor who specialized in treating vampires and surprisingly, was a completely ordinary human. Despite his kind demeanor, there was something sinister lurking behind it. He inherited both the name and the infamous text from the legendary Vanitas, using the grimoire to heal his patients.
Vanitas no Carte is simultaneously published in English as The Case Study of Vanitas by Yen Press on the same day as the Japanese release. Physical release began on December 20, 2016. The series has also been published in Polish by Waneko since December 5, 2016.
