After losing her parents, Miyo Yamaguchi finds herself under the guardianship of her aloof uncle and aunt, who are eager to find her employment. Despite multiple failed attempts, luck eventually smiles on her when she lands a sales clerk position at a curiosity shop. Though she lacks the qualifications, Miyo possesses a unique ability that captures the attention of the shop's proprietor, Momotoshi Koura: she can identify past and future owners of objects by touching them. Surrounded by exotic merchandise from distant lands, Momotoshi's quirky demeanor and Ganjii's intimidating appearance make Miyo feel like she has stumbled into Wonderland. However, despite their initial appearances, Momotoshi and Ganjii prove to be supportive mentors who guide her through this enchanting environment as she adjusts to her new role. Nyx no Lantern is the second installment of Kan Takahama's loosely connected Nagasaki Trilogy, which also includes Chou no Michiyuki and Ougishima Saijiki. The series won the 21st Japan Media Arts Excellence Award in 2018 and the 24th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2020. It was published in French by Glénat from March 6, 2019, to January 20, 2021.In March 2019, French newspaper Le Figaro selected Nyx no Lantern as one of the six recommended manga featured at the 2019 Paris Book Fair. In September 2021, NHK Educational TV presented the series' production background during its The Age of Mind - Religion and Life program.
