In her youth, Mira Kinohata encountered a young man named Ao while attending a camping event in her hometown. As they gazed upon the night sky together, Mira discovered that there existed a star bearing her own name but no star known as Ao. The two made a vow to one day explore asteroids and name one after him. Years later, Mira enrolled in Hoshizaki High School and joined the astronomy club in order to fulfill this promise. However, she learned that the club would be merged with the geological research society to form the earth science club. Despite her initial reluctance, Mira attended the club room and was reunited with Ao Manaka, the individual with whom she had made the promise to explore asteroids. To her surprise, she discovered that Ao was actually a girl. Alongside upperclassmen Mai Inose, Sakurai Mikage from the geological research society, Mari Morino from the astronomy club, and Ao, Mira continued her quest to explore asteroids and fulfill her promise.
