The couple in question is Ichiko Aihara and Otoya Aihara. They have been together for seven years and enjoy each other's company despite not having children or engaging in sexual activity. Although they agreed to see other people, Otoya had an affair with Mitsuki, which Ichiko was aware of. Seeing Otoya happy with Mitsuki caused Ichiko to experience a change as well.
