In a fantasy realm where a young girl wielding the hero's divine protection engages in combat against the demon lord. The elder brother of that girl, Red, possesses the guide's divine protection but has only a high initial level and no magical or martial abilities. As the battle progressed, his lack of supernatural capabilities made it difficult for him to keep up, leading a companion, a sage, to remark that he was not a true friend and remove all his equipment before kicking him out of the party with just a copper sword. Heartbroken, Red withdrew from the fight against the demon lord's army despite knowing its outcome would determine the fate of the world. He chose to live anonymously in Zoltan as he worked towards opening a herbalist shop and utilized his acquired knowledge for his new life. Alongside a half-elf carpenter living downtown, a princess unable to become the hero's companion, they aimed for a peaceful existence on the frontier of the world governed by people with innate divine protection.

Shin no Nakama ja Nai to Yuusha no Party wo Oidasareta node, Henkyou de Slow Life suru Koto ni Shimashita began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on October 21, 2017. A revised and illustrated version has been published by Kadokawa under its Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label since June 1, 2018. The series has been licensed in English as Banished from the Heroes Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside by Yen Press.
