The teikou middle school basketball club is a highly successful team with over one hundred members and three consecutive championship wins. amongst their impressive record was a group of five prodigies known as the "generation of miracles." however, there was a rumor about an additional player recognized by the generation of miracles - a phantom sixth player. when kagami taiga joins seirin high school's basketball team, he meets kuroko tetsuya, who is widely regarded as the worst player on the team. despite his poor performance in dribbling and shooting, kuroko uses his lack of presence to his advantage by specializing in passing the ball to stronger players. in order to become the best player in japan, kagami agrees to work with kuroko to defeat the other members of the generation of miracles.

Kuroko no Basket ranked sixth place in the 2012 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the male readers category.The series has been published in English as Kurokos Basketball by VIZ Media in 2-in-1 omnibuses since August 2, 2016. The series is also published in Spanish by Ivrea España since October 2015 and in Polish by Waneko since December 15, 2014.
