On the Vogel continent lies the powerful Adrasia Empire. Currently, there is a struggle for control of its throne. With no clear successor yet, the children of the emperor are competing for influence. However, one prince, Arnold Lakes Adler, is widely regarded as unfit for the role of emperor. Despite being inferior to his twin brother in every way, Arnold is known for his laziness and incompetence. He spends his days playing rather than contributing to the empire. However, behind this facade lies one of the five SS-Class adventurers known as "Silver." Realizing the escalating conflict for the throne, Arnold decides that he would rather see his brother become emperor than risk his own life in the struggle. Thus, he devises secret plans to manipulate events in his brother's favor. This story tells of Arnold's absurd machinations as he seeks to secure his brother's position as emperor despite his own lack of interest in the title.

Saikyou Degarashi Ouji no Anyaku Teii Arasoi: Munou wo Enjiru SS Rank Ouji wa Koui Keishousen wo Kage kara Shihai suru began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou under the title Saikyou Degarashi Ouji no Anyaku Teii Arasoi: Teii ni Kyoumi Nai desu ga, Shinu no wa Iya nanode Otouto wo Koutei ni Shiyou to Omoimasu on February 3, 2019. Kadokawa has released a revised and illustrated version of the series since September 1, 2019 under its Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label.The series has been published digitally in English as The Insipid Prince's Furtive Grab for the Throne by Kadokawa since January 31, 2022.
