The Sonozaki family in Hinamizawa has kept twin sisters Mion and Shion apart since childhood. While Mion is set to inherit the family business, Shion attends St. Lucia Academy far from home and her beloved sister. However, Shion escapes school and returns to Hinamizawa without realizing the tragic fate that awaits her. Upon reuniting with Mion, she gets a part-time job while pretending to be her sister. This leads her to meet Satoshi Houjou, whom she deeply loves. But when she learns about his family's terrible circumstances, she begins to resent everyone connected to him, including his younger sibling, Satoko. Tensions rise and Satoshi disappears, causing Shion to suspect that her own family may be involved. A year later, Shion meets Keiichi Maebara, Mions crush. This rekindles her feelings for Satoshi and sends her on a quest to uncover the truth behind his disappearance. However, this journey leads her down a dark path of madness and despair.
