Ghost Hunt is a manga series that follows the adventures of Kazuya Shibuya, president of the Shibuya Psychic Research Center (SPR), and Mai Taniyama, a first-year high school student. The story begins with Mai and her friends exchanging ghost stories when they are interrupted twice: once by an unknown male student and then by another classmate who warns them about how their stories attract spirits. Later, while walking, Mai sees the building that is central to all of their ghost stories and decides to go inside. However, she is stopped by a man who ends up injuring himself. Mai is forced to work as an assistant for this man, who is employed by the "male student" to study paranormal events at school. Mai nicknames him "Naru" due to his narcissistic personality. Naru owns a paranormal investigation company called SPR and eventually offers Mai a part-time job there after assisting with her first case. As she becomes more involved with Naru, Mai learns about herself and her feelings towards him. The story also features Shibuya's assistant Lin and various spirit mediums and exorcists who help the SPR in their investigations.
