The space academy of stellvia is among several organizations working to prevent earth's impending supernova disaster in 70 days. shima katase, a new student at stellvia with exceptional programming skills but limited piloting abilities, aspires to become one of the chosen pilots to aid in saving the planet. stellvia serves as the backdrop for her journey.

Uchuu no Stellvia was published in English by DrMaster from July 11, 2005 to September 9, 2005. A boxset with the series was released on June 30, 2008.
