After the catastrophe that occurred at the conclusion of Shin Getter Robo, Hayato Jin has assumed leadership at the Saotome Research Institute and Ryoma has retired to a rural setting. The world's technological advancements have led most major nations to own robots, but research on Getter Rays is now strictly forbidden and kept confidential from other countries. In order to combat the madman Randou, who operates his base in the Arctic, a new team of Getter Robo pilots is assembled, piloting a new type of Getter Robo that runs on plasma energy. The war against Randou's army commences with the support of various nations' militaries. This series marks the introduction of Shin Getter Robo.
