Tokyo Performance Doll, or TPD for short, was a Japanese pop idol group that existed from 1990 to 1996 and then returned in 2013. The band was inspired by the Onyanko Club and had seven main members and several trainees for live performances. They were based in Tokyo and later launched sister-bands in Osaka and Shanghai. TPD also had numerous subgroups that released their own singles, while albums were issued collectively.
Some of the main members included Ryoko Shinohara, East End X Yuris Yuri Ichii, and trainee members such as Yoko Kamon and Yuko Fueki (Yoo Min). In June 2013, it was announced that after 17 years, the group would be revived with an all-new lineup. The new members included Nana Takashima, Seria Jonishi, Saki Sakurai, Kaho Hamasaki, Akari Waki, Sakurako Iida, Saki Jingu, Anyu Kobayashi, Futaba Tachibana, Sana Minami, Ryoko Shinohara, Satomi Kihara, Miho Yonemitsu, Chisa Kawamura, Yuri Ichii, Yuko Anai, Mai Yagita, Natsuko Kifuse, Kanako Hitsuwari, Shiho Shimazu, Hiromi Seki, Masako Nakagawa, Misako Iwana, Saori Fujimoto, Aya Shinohara, Miho Natori, and Fumi Otoh. Additionally, there were subgroups that issued their own singles while albums were released collectively.
