Yamato Waki is a renowned Japanese mangaka who began her career on March 13, 1948 in Sapporo. Since then, she has consistently produced and published various shoujo manga works. One of her early successful pieces was Mon Cherie CoCo, which was later adapted into an anime series. Another notable work is Haikara-san ga Tooru, which won the 1st Kodansha Manga Award for shoujo in 1977 and was also turned into a musical by the Takarazuka Revue. These early accomplishments helped establish Yamato as one of the most popular manga artists.
