Minami Shinoda was raised with a passion for dance and initially aimed to become a musical actress. However, due to her height of 147 cm, the roles available to her were limited. As a result, she turned to voice acting as her profession, which allowed her work to be less restricted by her appearance. During high school, Shinoda attended the Nihon Narration Engi Kenkyuujo training academy and later hosted the AniLove! Gacha Gacha radio program with Nanaka Suwa and Risa Kuriyama. In spring of 2013, she joined the VIMS talent management agency following the completion of the program. Shinoda made her seiyuu debut in February 2014 as Haru Kasukabe in Tokyo 7th Sisters, a mobile game, and also appeared as an unnamed character in Isshuukan Friends, her anime debut that same month.
