Toshifumi Takizawa was born on September 18th, 1953 in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University and began his career as a photographer at Tokyo Animation Film before moving to Shin-Ei Douga where he worked as a production assistant. In 1985, Takizawa made his directorial debut with the Dirty Pair TV series while working for Nippon Sunrise. He continued to work as a director but is now a freelancer. Takizawa was involved in the Ideon Be Invoked film and worked on the Votoms series. In 2004, he directed the Gonzos TV adaptation of Kurosawas epic Samurai 7 film.
