Tadao Nagahama (長浜 忠夫 Nagahama Tadao) was a director who worked in both puppet shows and animation. He is most famous for directing Sunrise and Toei Companys Robot Romance Trilogy, which combined human drama with the Super Robot Genre. Additionally, he directed several popular anime series that are still well-known among Japanese viewers. Nagahama's work spanned various genres, including sports, comedies, shōnen, shōjo, and Super Robots. He was often referred to as "the Emperor" in imitation of film director Akira Kurosawa. While traveling overseas with his wife, they both contracted hepatitis. Although his wife survived, Nagahama died from the disease at the age of 48.
