Tetsuya Komuro, commonly known as TK, is a renowned Japanese musician who has made significant contributions to the music industry. He is widely recognized for his success as a producer in Japanese music history and for introducing dance music to the mainstream. In addition to being a keyboardist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and music producer, he was also the owner of Velfarre, a discothèque located in Roppongi, Tokyo. TK is considered one of the most influential figures in pop throughout the 1990s, with his songs dominating the Oricon singles chart on April 15, 1996. He held all five top positions as a songwriter and producer, setting a world record. In 1995, TK monopolized all three top positions of the copyright distribution rankings for the JASRAC Award, another record in Japanese music history. At his peak as a record producer, TK's productions became known as the TK Family and included artists such as Namie Amuro, hitomi, TRF, Tomomi Kahala, and Ami Suzuki among others. To date, TK's compositions have sold more than 70 million singles, his lyrics have sold more than 42 million, and all of his records together have sold over 170 million in Japan alone.
