Despite achieving great success in rakugo as a shinuchi, Yotarou struggles to define his own identity within the world of this traditional Japanese form of entertainment. His master's teachings and Sukeroku's unique style have left him without an essential component: ego. Although he is popular among audiences, rakugo faces the threat of being overshadowed by other forms of entertainment.
Meanwhile, Yakumo, known as the last bastion of preserving rakugo's popularity, grapples with his own aging process and fears that he may soon reach his limits. His doubts intensify when an old friend approaches him, adding to his internal turmoil. Konatsu, on the other hand, tries to raise her son as a single mother, which Yotarou strongly opposes. Instead of accepting this arrangement, he attempts to convince her to marry him and together they can raise their child as his own.
