The TV edit of Berserk: The Golden Age Arc film trilogy follows the story of Guts, a lone swordsman who travels as a mercenary in a land torn apart by war. Despite his lack of friends, family, or a home to return to, Guts is an expert swordfighter and can easily defeat powerful enemies with his long blade. Griffith, the leader of the "Band of the Hawk," takes notice of Guts' skills and challenges him to a duel. After winning, Griffith brings Guts into his group to help fulfill his own ambitions. As they fight together in numerous battles, their friendships grow stronger, especially between Griffith and Guts. Eventually, the Band of the Hawk becomes the regular army of Midland's kingdom, but this is only the beginning of Griffith's quest for power. Meanwhile, Guts begins to question his life as a mercenary and wonders if there might be more to existence than just swinging a sword. However, what Guts doesn't realize yet is that their relentless pursuit of their dreams has brought terrible consequences upon them.
