If computers become more human-like in appearance, will love remain unchanged? Meet Hideki Motosuwa, a hardworking young man from a modest background who is striving to attend college despite financial difficulties. His latest expense is the newest trend, Persocoms - personal computers designed to resemble humans. While walking home one evening, he discovers an abandoned Persocom and brings it back to life. However, unlike other Persocoms, Chii can only say "Chii." Despite this limitation, Hideki teaches her about the world around them while studying for his college entrance exams. Along with his friends, they try to solve the mystery of Chii, who may be a "Chobit," an urban legend character known for having real human emotions and feelings towards their owners. Can love between a Persocom and a human truly blossom?

The original episodes 9 and 18 are "recap" episodes, summarizing previous events. These episodes were re-numbered for the DVD release as episodes 8.5 and 16.5, respectively, and removed from their original sequence by being published together on the final DVD.(Source: Wikipedia)
