The brothers Takumi Fujiwara, Keisuke Takahashi, and Ryousuke Takahashi have formed a racing team called "Project D." Their goal is to improve their driving skills beyond what they can do in their hometown. They use the internet to challenge other teams and share information about their races. Ryousuke manages the team, with Takumi competing in downhill battles using his AE86 car, while Keisuke takes on opponents uphill. Some of their competitors include the Seven-Star Leaf (SSR) and Todo-juku.
