A high school student named Kyou Sogoru enjoys swimming, hanging out with friends, and playing video games in Maihama City. However, his routine changes when a mysterious girl named Shizuno Misaki asks him to jump into their school's pool together. This leap takes him to a war-torn world where humans pilot robots called Zegas to fight against aliens known as Gards-Orm. To stop the Gards-Orm from destroying humanity, humans have formed Cerebrum, an organization that battles these creatures. As Kyou engages in combat missions and meets other Zega pilots, he starts questioning the nature of this world and his own life.
