The dc mini is an innovative device created by a tech lab that can enter into people's dreams to explore their psyche. developed by atsuko chiba and kosaku tokita, it aims to help patients with psychological disorders. however, the technology has immense potential for misuse if it falls into the wrong hands. it could be used as a form of psychological terrorism, causing mental breakdowns in targets. when the device is stolen and people around them start behaving strangely, atsuko and kosaku know they have to act fast. they enlist officer konakawa's help, who has received experimental therapy with the dc mini, to search for their mental terrorist in both the real and dream worlds.
Paprika was director Satoshi Kons last feature film before his death in 2010. It won several awards around the world, including the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Music in 2007 and the Newport Beach Film Festival for best animated feature film in 2007.A live action adaptation was planned with Wolfgang Petersen (The Never Ending Story, Troy), but the project appears to have been scrapped.
