In the story "Heroes and Monsters," a young man named Hiro Hiyorimi attempts to save a beautiful woman from death. Unfortunately, he ends up dying in the process. However, his sacrifice is rewarded when he returns as an honor guard for Hime, daughter of the King of the Monsters. As part of this duty, he must fight off an army of supernatural monstrosities that are being unleashed by her siblings in order to move up the ladder of succession. The story also features strange and unusual creatures such as were-sharks, pandas, and killer dumplings, making it a far cry from the afterlife Hiro had hoped for. Despite this, Hime is portrayed as the "good girl" in the story, even if she is on the wrong side of the gates of hell.
