Umineko no Naku Koro ni is the third installment in the popular When They Cry series by 07th Expansion. The story takes place on Rokkenjima, an island owned by the wealthy Ushiromiya family. Every year, the entire family gathers on the island for a conference to discuss their financial situations. However, this year's conference is different due to the poor health of the family heads. The topic of discussion is the inheritance of the head of the family and how it will be distributed. However, Kinzou, the family head, has other concerns on his mind. After being told by his longtime friend and physician that his end was approaching, Kinzou becomes desperate to meet his true love one last time - the Golden Witch, Beatrice. He immerses himself in black magic for many years and instigates a ceremony to revive her upon the family's arrival on Rokkenjima. Soon after, a violent typhoon traps the family on the island, leading to a string of mysterious murders. The eighteen people on the island are forced to fight for their lives in a deadly struggle between fantasy and reality.
