The Straw Hat Pirates set sail in search of Gol D. Roger's hidden treasures in the New World's tumultuous waters. During their journey, they encounter a formidable foe, former Marine Admiral Z.Z, who is accused of stealing the "Dyna Stones", weapons said to possess the ability to reshape the New World. The Marine Headquarters fears that Z will use these stones to bring an end to the pirate era and threaten countless innocent lives. To prevent such a catastrophic outcome, marines launch a manhunt for the former admiral. Despite the danger, the Straw Hat Pirates remain determined to stop Z from causing chaos and continue their quest for treasure. Along the way, they encounter familiar and new faces.

A limited dual edition ticket for both One Piece Film: Z and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods sold for the screenings of both movies at ¥2,600 the year they premiered, which contained special art by the mangaka of both series. Regular editions of the DVD/BD in Japan included one of nine different holographic stickers, while the deluxe edition included all nine stickers as well as other bonus material.
