After learning that some islands in East Blue are being destroyed, Monkey D. Luffy and his team set out to investigate. However, on their journey, they encountered an unusual pirate ship which was led by Shiki "the Golden Lion," a notorious pirate who had consumed the Float-Float Fruit and was the first person ever imprisoned at Impel Down. Shiki kidnapped Nami in order to use her as his navigator and held the rest of Luffy's crew hostage on his floating islands. This left Nami in a difficult position, as she was now separated from her friends and had to find a way back to them while navigating through an unfamiliar terrain controlled by Shiki.
