Ryouta Sakamoto is currently unemployed and resides with his mother. His only notable accomplishment is being Japan's top player in the popular online video game Btooom! Despite leading a tranquil life, Ryouta's peace will soon be disrupted when he discovers that he has been transported to an island without any recollection of how he arrived there. Embedded within his left hand is a small green crystal, and it becomes apparent that someone has decided to replicate the game he enjoys in real life, with the stakes being life or death. Players are equipped with a collection of distinctive bombs known as "BIM," which they must utilize to eliminate seven of their fellow competitors and retrieve their corresponding green crystals in order to return home. Initially hesitant to engage in any form of violence, Ryouta is compelled to fight when he realizes that several of the other participants are not as welcoming as they may seem. Along with Himiko, another Btooom! player, Ryouta endeavors to escape the island and uncover the truth behind this lethal game.
