In ancient times, humans lived exclusively underwater. Nevertheless, some individuals opted to reside on land permanently, resulting in the loss of their divine ability known as "Ena," which enabled them to breathe underwater. Over time, the chasm between those living beneath and above water grew wider, despite occasional contact between the two groups. Nagi no Asu kara focuses on Hikari Sakishima, Manaka Mukaido, Chisaki Hiradaira, Kaname Isaki, and Tsumugu Kihara, who are compelled to leave their underwater home for a school on land. The storyline revolves around the challenges they encounter due to the deep-seated animosity between sea dwellers and surface inhabitants, personal turmoil within their lives, as well as an impending catastrophe that may threaten all those residing above water.
