In the 21st century, humans made an attempt to colonize Mars by sending two species capable of surviving its harsh environment-algae and cockroaches. However, they did not anticipate these creatures' ability to adapt. Now in the 26th century, a deadly disease called the Alien Engine Virus has arrived on Earth, with its cure believed to be found only on Mars. The problem is that Mars in the present is overrun by powerful and intelligent humanoid cockroaches known as "Terraformars," which mutated from those originally sent to the planet. An Annex I team of 100 genetically enhanced individuals has been dispatched to Mars for a mission to find the source of the Alien Engine Virus and help humanity fight for survival.
