According to Mahiru Shirota's philosophy, simplicity is the key to avoiding complications. He believes in avoiding trouble at all costs, even if it means doing nothing and regretting it later. This mindset led him to pick up a stray cat on his way home from school, which he affectionately named Kuro. Little did Mahiru know that this chance encounter would change the course of his life forever.
One day, Mahiru returned home to find something strange: a mysterious young man he had never seen before. His panic caused the uninvited guest to be exposed to sunlight, and to his shock, the stranger transformed into Kuro! Upon revealing himself as a lazy shut-in vampire, Kuro promised to leave once night fell. However, things took a turn for the worse when Mahiru accidentally formed a contract with his new freeloader, dragging him into a life-threatening battle of supernatural servants and bloodthirsty beings that was anything but simple.
