In ancient times, all the spirits in a school were exiled by a specific student. Now, they have returned seeking vengeance. Satsuki and Keiichirou Miyanoshita are two siblings who recently lost their mother. Upon moving to her hometown, they attend a new school that is rumored to be haunted. Although initially dismissive of such tales, the siblings soon come to realize that ghosts do exist and are pursuing them. Gakkou no Kaidan follows the harrowing journey of these siblings and their companions as they attempt to evade the vengeful spirits of the school while being aided by their feline companion.

Gakkou no Kaidan is notable for having an English dub by ADV Films that utlized a comedic script as opposed to the original serious one.
